Easy 4 Phrases Of Dhikr Jam-Packed With Reward

A hadith in Riyad-as-Salihin describes 4 phrases of dhikr that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) recommended to his wife. He instructed her to repeat these phrases thrice in the morning. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) states in the hadith that these phrases will carry an immense reward for the Muslim believer on the Day of Judgement, as they weigh very heavily on the scale of good deeds.

The story behind this hadith is that one morning, Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) departed his home. His wife, Juwairiyah bint Al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her), prayed Fajr (dawn prayer) at home.

When he returned after sunrise, he found Juwairiyah (may Allah be pleased with her) still sitting in the exact location as she was when he left her. She was making dhikr (remembrance) of Allah.

Upon learning this, Rasool Allah (ﷺ) taught her 4 phrases of dhikr that he made upon leaving their home. These phrases were more better than all of the dhikr that she had made that whole morning.

What Are 4 Phrases Of Dhikr That Weigh Heavily On The Scale Of Good Deeds?

Repeat the following 4 phrases of dhikr three times after performing Salat al-Fajr.

سبحان الله وبحمده عدد خلقه، ورضا نفسه، وزنة عرشه، ومداد كلماته

Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, `adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinatah `arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi.

Allah is free from imperfection and I begin with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words (for His Praise).

Juwairiyah bint Al-Harith (May Allah be pleased with her), the Mother of the Believers, reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) came out from my apartment in the morning as I was busy in performing the dawn prayer. He came back in the forenoon and found me sitting there. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Are you still in the same position as I left you.” I replied in the affirmative. Thereupon the Prophet said, “I recited four words three times after I had left you. If these are to be weighed against all you have recited since morning, these will be heavier. These are: Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, `adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinatah `arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi [Allah is free from imperfection and I begin with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words (for His Praise)].” Riyad as-Salihin

The virtue of the phrase, “subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi” is described in the hadith below.

Abu Dharr (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me, “Shall I tell you the expression that is most loved by Allah?” It is ‘Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi’ (Allah is free from imperfection and His is the praise)’.” Riyad as-Salihin
