Dua For Conceiving From The Quran

Dua For Conceiving From The Quran

Having trouble conceiving? You’re not alone my dear brothers and sisters. Of course there are worldly things that you could be (and should be) doing to help. Your effort, along with making dua for conceiving, just might be the solution you need from Allah.

You can make dua for conceiving with four duas from the Qur’an outlined below.

Frequently Recite The Following Qur’anic Du’as Made By Prophet Zakariya (Peace Be Upon Him)

My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while you are the best of inheritors.

And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, “My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while you are the best of inheritors.” Qur’an 21:89

Rabbi hab li min ladunka dhurriyyatan tayyibah innaka sami’ud du’a.

My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.

At that, Zechariah called upon his Lord, saying, “My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.” Qur’an 3:38

Rabbi hab li minassaaliheen.

My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.

My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.” Qur’an 37:100

You Don’t Necessarily Need To Recite An Arabic Dua For Conceiving – Just Talk To Allah

This Qur’anic du’a isn’t a “one size fits all” type of du’a. Its a du’a that fits Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) and his needs at the time.

Rabbi innee wahanal’azmu minnee washta’alar raasu shaibanw wa lam akum bidu’aaa’ika Rabbi shaqiyyaa.
Wa innee khiftul mawaa liya minw waraaa’ee wa kaana tim ra atee ‘aairan fahab lee mil ladunka waliyyaa.
Yarisunee wa yarisu min aali Ya’qoob, waj’alhu Rabbi radiyya.

My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy.
And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir
Who will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You].

He said, “My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy.
And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir
Who will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You].” Qur’an 19:4-6

In private, Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) supplicated to Allah. He talked to Allah about his old age and mentioned his gratitude towards Him in the past.

Note that he isn’t saying “why me?”. He isn’t complaining about Allah. Rather, he’s complaining to Allah of his situation.

Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) doesn’t just ask for a child. He asks for a pious and righteous child. He’s not just thinking about his dunya (present-life) but his akhirah (afterlife) too in his supplication.

Du’a For Pious And Righteous Children

Rabbanaa hab lanaa min azwaajinaa wa zurriyaatinaa qurrata a’yuninw waj ‘alnaa lilmuttaqeena Imaamaa.

Grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.

And those who say, “Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.” Qur’an 25:74

Some Reminders For Those Who Haven’t Been Given Children In Dunya

‘Aisha and Asiya – two women honoured for having perfect faith – never had children. This is an indication that not having children doesn’t mean its a punishment or that Allah isn’t pleased with you!

Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Many amongst men attained perfection but amongst women none attained the perfection except Mary, the daughter of `Imran and Asiya, the wife of Pharaoh. And the superiority of `Aisha to other women is like the superiority of Tharid (i.e. an Arabic dish) to other meals.” Sahih al-Bukhari

Whatever Allah gives and withholds is for our own good. Even if we don’t understand why.

In Jannah, you can be given a child in an hour! Subhanallah. Strive for Jannah brothers and sisters.

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:
“The believer, when he desires a child in Paradise, he shall be carried (in pregnancy), born, and complete his aging in an hour as he desires.” Jami` at-Tirmidhi

Money and children are a test.

Your wealth and your children are but a trial, and Allah has with Him a great reward. Qur’an 64:15

Consider adopting a child.

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “I and the one who looks after an orphan will be like this in Paradise,” showing his middle and index fingers and separating them. Sahih al-Bukhari

Don’t lose hope. Make frequent dua for conceiving to Allah. Look to the example of Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him).
